Spawn Vol 1 #185 - CGC 9.2 - Second Printing

It starts in Hell, which is nothing but a desert of heads and then transitions to Earth where a man gets what looks to me like a venom symbiote. HE THEN STICKS HIS HAND RIGHT INTO HIS FACE! The artwork blew me away! The scene zooms out to the city and leaves this man we transition to a new one. He wakes up and cries for his SON as if the scene of the symbiote man was a nightmare of his. A nurse named Sara thinks the machine is acting up and is astonished to find him awake. She says this is the “answer to her prayers”. Doctors and nurses rush to his room and find out he’s in tiptop shape, we then get a flash panel of monsters on the ceiling. Two doctors and a reporter talk about this “Patient 47”. They reveal that he’s not only in tiptop shape but he’s getting stronger every minute. They agree to keep this to themselves. That would have worked if not for a CREEPY eavesdropping janitor who goes into the shadows and calls a special number. He calls a businessman who’s startled to know that the man is awake (just like Sara). He tells the man on the phone that “they” have been keeping an eye on him (Patient 47) for years and that he should have called sooner. He threatens the man’s daughter and smashes his cell down to end the call. He pushes a button on his desk, which opens to reveal a rotary phone. He calls his boss and tries to explain the current events. He says he “understands”. He loads a gun and kills himself. As the little man continues to ramble he transforms into a monster telling the man “Simmons” he can’t move a Dead Zone without permission. The comic ends with “Simmons” dead and his head splattered all against the alley wall.
