Dylan Brock is awakened late one night to find Anne Weying - an alternate version of his late mother and the Agent Venom of another universe - standing over him. Saying that she doesn't have much time to explain, Anne states that after Dylan and Eddie left she spent years hoping for her son - the Dylan Brock of her universe - to awaken from the coma he'd been left in after his connection to Knull was severed. Finally, Anne gave up hope... only to one day discover that the Carnage symbiote had abandoned Cletus Kasady and sought out Dylan's comatose body as its next host. Restoring the powers Dylan had possessed as Codex, Carnage swiftly conquered the world - killing almost everyone and keeping a handful of others - Anne included - alive to torture. Chuckling nastily, "Anne" reveals herself to be Dylan, taken over by the Carnage symbiote and transformed into a monster with a skull-like face, hair-like tendrils and a black dragon emblem on his chest. Carnage lunges at Dylan and mockingly asks if he missed him. Transforming into Venom, Dylan retorts that he didn't and slams Carnage through the wall of Eddie's apartment.
